About the Department
As per the UGC (20thNov. 2014) and Supreme Court of India notification, the subject ofEnvironmental Studies was introduced as a compulsory and qualifying course forall the first year students of all the undergraduate courses under Universityof Delhi. Further, from July 2015 under CBCS (Choice Based Credit system) thestatus of this course has been changed to Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course(AECC) wherein it is no more a qualifying course. Sree Chaitanya Mahavidyalayaestablished The Department of Environmental Studies in 2019 and offers AbilityEnhancement Compulsory Course (AECC) for undergraduate students.
The Department of Environmental Studiesaims to provide students with the depth of understanding and skills necessaryfor resolving environmental questions and creating a sustainable future. Environmental Studies course integrate theacademic divisions of natural science, social science, and provides skill andknowledge applicable to pursuit solutions to various environmental challenges. The department offers opportunities to develop interests in a number ofareas, including environmental values,policy, and law; earth system science; public health; urban environmentalproblems; climate change; energy systems; environmental justice etc.
