The college started its journey inthe year 1965 as a commerce college in the vicinity. The objectives of thedepartment are to prepare the students for different courses e.g. management,company secretary ship, chartered accountancy, and cost and managementaccountancy and to equip them for various jobs in industrial and bankingsectors as well as pursue research activities. To fulfil the demand of highereducation in the locality, the College introduced PG course in Commerce (M.Com.)under the West Bengal State University from the year 2011-12. The presentintake capacity is 30 students. The department is furnished with Class Rooms, SmartClass Rooms, and I.T. laboratories with modern computers. The department has a departmentallibrary containing essential modern books on the subject and the students ofthe department are also entitled to borrow books from the rich collection inthe central library. The main strength of the department is its excellentfaculties of our own teachers of the college as well as from differentcolleges.

         The course is divided into four semesters of six months duration each. At theend of each semester End Semester examination is conducted. The statement ofmarks is given by West Bengal State University. Classes start from 9.30 a.m. to2.30 p.m.

         The course includes several assignments, project works and seminarpresentations. The medium of instruction and teaching is English.
